Biography
Mixed Media Artist: Marc Garcia
Hi, my name is Marc Garcia and I am a mixed media artist currently living in Auburn, CA. I've always been drawn to portraiture—there’s something powerful about trying to capture a person’s story in a single image. Lately, I’ve been branching out into more surreal and imaginative work, mixing realistic details with strange or dreamlike elements. I like art that makes you feel something or makes you stop and look a little longer.
I studied fine art at UC Berkeley and graduated in 2005, but for me, art has mostly been a passion I’ve kept alive on the side. I take on a few commissions each year and love working with people to create pieces that are meaningful to them.
My work includes everything from faded, emotional portraits to bold, colorful birds surrounded by hops and flowers, and even darker, symbolic pieces like sugar skull figures set in moody landscapes. I enjoy playing with contrast—light and shadow, beauty and decay, memory and imagination.
